If you were a tune, how well would you play?

Finding your Song

You are a rhythm, unique to this world. There is none like you out there. You are a fast beat, a quick tempo. Perhaps a violin, perhaps a deep cello. You are an orchestra, all different pieces singing out at once, a harmony of individually discordant voices breaking through the silence.

But perhaps you are not so sure, perhaps you are a trembling chord, seeking its true form. Seeking to fill its own silence. And you ask, how do I find my song?

Well, there is no easy way, you must first know thyself. How do you sound when plucked, how do you sing when strummed? How do you bend with the bow to your side? And in the orchestra with others around you, where do you fall? Perhaps within the band, with the many, together capturing the moment… Or perhaps in the soloist’s hands, mesmerizing, glorious, amazing, even if only for the moment.

You wish to find your song, play! Play as hard as you can, seek new fields of sound, seek many a tonal adventure. Head to the deepest basses and the highest trebles. Dance along the solemn highs and the jagged aberrations of true music. Seek an orchestra within which you fit… Or better yet, find that other tune, that other person with whom you are a perfect harmony.

But as I said, my dear chord, it is not easy. Be ready to be pushed, carved and scratched. To be torn beyond repair and to fix yourself up. Be ready for the noise, the crash, the missed intonation. But never let the dream fall, the music falter, the orchestra stop.

So, PLAY ON!!
