Of Sleep and Sand

Sleep comes, A silent slithering snake. She whispers gently, “Come with me”. I smile, seduced by her silky voice, The sweet thoughts of slumber sinking in my brain. She bites. Her hot venom coursing through my veins, I sigh, I yawn, I head to other domains.

Dreams Come, The sand, gritty and golden. The Sandman sings, a song of wonder. He sings up a land of imagination, Spun from memory and hope, Stolen from reality upon another, Knitted into a matrix of the unpredictable. He leaves me there,  An explorer upon familiar ground forgot, Never knowing if it is my world or not.

You Come, Appearing as if out of thin air, Your sweet smug smile, your braided hair. You hold my hand and lead me there, To your hideout, your nest, your lair. We sit, we chat, we talk, we sing, And we reminisce about everything. From futures forgotten to pasts unseen We talk about what could have been. And I can’t help but note and see, How beautiful you are to me. For if beauty had a face, I’m sure it’s yours. For with it you melted my fortified doors. And if wit had a voice, I’m sure it’s you, Throw in a smile and some laughter too. In speech and thought and word and deed, You fill my soul, my every need. In you, I see the universe vast. The present, the future and the past. All I can do is be grateful and pray, That fate and destiny allow you to stay. And that somewhere in the Sandman’s land, I am there to hold your hand.

But for now, I’ll say this right; Stay awesome, Gorgeous, And have a good night.

Yours, Always, Lawrence
