The Wanderer’s Cloak

An Ode to the Journey

Here, Take this cloak, Its fit familiar, Its cut unique. And wear it well, weary wanderer, To whatever end it is you seek. May it keep you warm, In the harshest of winters And keep you cool, When the suns rays blister. May it keep the sand out of your eyes, And the grit from your boots, May it keep you company, To a land where you can grow roots.

Here, Wanderer, Take this cloak, And remember to be kind to all, For the journey is not about the destination, It is about heeding the Wanderer’s call. Sate your mind with nature’s wonders, Dip yourself in deep curiosity, Sharpen your blade with questions and answers, And seek the latter with hungry ferocity. Dream big and aim lofty, Go beyond these well-hung clouds. For this is truly the purpose of living, As we all end up under the dark one’s shroud.

Here, Wanderer, Take this cloak. Take the road untravelled, See the wonders unseen, Carry your stories with you, To lands you have never been. Hold hands with fair company, And leave a smile on every face, For true joy never leaves a heart, That’s found its rightful place. Help those who you find in need, Lift those in damning sorrow, For you never really know, How the sun rises in the coming morrow. And if you find upon this road, A companion to walk with you. Then take them on and walk together, Hopefully into the sunset, blue. And if paths part and byes are said, Then, wanderer, worry not, For the beauty lies in the journey held Those moments are not soon forgot.

Here, Wanderer, Take this cloak. Your journey’s tome lies unwritten — bare. Remember the joy is never in the destination, But in the magic of getting there.
